A chance professional development opportunity led me to meet up with former LBPSB itinerant teacher of Educational Technology, Tanya Avrith. I shared with her our team's goal of wanting to better understand what technology can do for the staff and students in terms of tools, support and design and that we were intending to apply for the John Killingbeck Scholarship but needed host schools. Tanya quickly suggested linking us to a school just outside of Orlando where she had been working as a collaborator and consultant. We jumped at the chance. Park Maitland, with Cindy Moon at the helm became our official host school and we couldn't wait to begin! We put in our application knowing that we had one visit planned and we needed to find a second school to visit. We had our hopes on partnering with a fellow International Baccalaureate World School that we could learn from with a focus on the benefits of technology in the classroom and the school. The best chance encounter came in the form of Hema Adhia, our workshop facilitator at a recent IB Workshop in Chicago. Hema was the Assistant Principal at MacFarlane Park IB World School in Tampa FL. What luck that her school was located a mere ninety minutes from Orlando and Park Maitland School! Hema was an impressive facilitator so I took the chance and I approached her with the idea the Clearpoint team coming to visit in January. Needless to say, she was keen and excited to receive us and another incredible partnership was born. Rachel Wilson
